Art is something everyone needs in their life. Paintings can make you feel happy, while other paintings make you feel sad, weird, crazy, physco list goes on. But in a good way, that is how the artist wanted you to feel when you saw their painting. There is a wide variety of art for example: Watercolor, oil paintings, acrylic, markers, etc. I love art because it is colorful and fun! Most of the art that I see makes me feel happy inside, and I love being happy. There is always a country, state, or town where an artist came from. But the state I am going to be focusing on is Washington DC. like many States Washington DC has it's fare share of Artists, but there is something about Washington DC that not many other Artist have. I think maybe because Washington Dc represents a more free place where people can express themselves and especially Artists.
The first place I am going to be talking about is "The Phillips Collection" it is a school/Museum/haven for artists. Many famous artist paintings are in the walls of this museum;"Renoir, Bonnard, Matisse, Klee, and Cézanne—as well as one of Duncan Phillips's great favorites, the American painter Augustus Vincent Tack." http://www.phillipscollection.org/collection/influence/index.aspx
Something that interested me, during World War II a Marine name Richard Diebenkorn would come to the "Phillips Collection" and paint. His favorite painting or the one he thought most inspiring was "Henri Matisse, Studio, Quai St. Michel" he later painted a picture similar to it.
"The Phillips Collection" has many more stories about artist who found there calling there. Many different exhibitions are in this Museum, from modern art, to art that people want to bring back from olden days, and odly some high tech digital art. I hope when I go to Washington DC I will be able to visit this place.
As I said before there are many different kinds of art. But there is one form of art that is my favorite! "Abstract art" well this kind of art is really unique. It is unique because there is not really a right way of doing it? You just kind of go with the flow. I just love it because you can start out having just a weird painting and by adding some different shapes and things your picture/painting can turn out really cool. For example one time I was painting a picture, and let me tell ya it looked like crap.( or at least I thought so) But then a friend came up to me and said " Hey, that looks really good is that abstract?" That's when I fell in love with abstract painting. But enough about me, Washington Dc has some pretty creative artists who have painted really colorful abstract art. Here are some examples:

http://www.gallerydirect.com/canvas-framed-wall-art/jaime-packard/sometimes-i

As you can see these pictures are pretty good examples of "Abstract Art". Mine doesn't look quite that good. Also the paintings above are really colorful and fun, not all abstract art looks that way. But as I stated before I love bright and colorful art so that is why I chose these.
There are so--so many types of art that I don't even know about. I mean you could really take a piece of junk and say " This is art" and then you could make a fortune.( Not really but just a figure of speech.)Anyways, I have been searching on the internet to find art that is different and funky. But I got really messed up and disturbing images that no one would ever want to see. But here is some fun art you can find in Washington Dc.
There was a contest held in Washington Dc and the rule was you had to make art or a cool picture with only using one sheet of paper. Here are some of the best ones!
I think this is the coolest thing ever. Who could ever think of this kind of stuff! See, that is what I love about art, it just comes to you. Some of it is great art and some is really messed art.
Like I said before art is something that everyone needs in their life. Good thing art is everywhere. And it is especially in Washington D.C. Here is some of the art you can find in Washington D.C.
These pictures are examples of the kind of cool art you can find in Washington D.C. See the picture where a Sharks head is, an artist made that all out of action figures. The other picture is called "The rainbow Cellist" and you can see how it got that name. Now that last picture I just put it up there because I thought it looked cool.
Art has been around since the beginning of time, when they would make pots out of clay, that's art, when cave men would carve drawings into their caves, that's art. I could go on and on, but I'm not. What I'm trying to say is art isn't just painting. It is much more than that, it is what the artist wanted you to see and feel. Also their is more art than just painting a cool picture. Art can been designing a building for your job, some people even consider doing your make-up as art, painting your nails is an art too. But those last two are little things, art is everywhere and in everything. You just need to open your eyes and see.
Even in nature you can see there is an art to the way things work. It's funny that real artist usually get there art ideas from nature which I already consider art. It also makes me think how could anyone create the world and all it's trees, flowers, birds, animal, etc. I know who, I hope you do too.
I think these are some perfect examples of the art aspect of nature in Washington D.C.
I'm going to end this now by talking about how art affects our life and world.People don't realize how much art is put into our lives. The clothes we where, the furniture we buy, our houses, the type of food we buy/make( yes making food is consider an art)and just about everything else. I can not imagine a life without color or creativity, it would be horrible.(This is a great example of the art aspect in food!)
America is the perfect example of people being creative, and thinking for themselves. The big reason why is, this is the land of the free where people can do anything that they feel possible. This freedom we have gives us the imagination to come up with all the crazy and wonderful art and other things you see today.
Washington D.C. is a great example of people expressing themselves, there is art on buildings, inside of buildings, on the street, on walls, subways, trains, and even in its nature.
I loved being there it was just the best thing ever. I mean you can literally feel the creativity in the air! I never wanted to leave, while I was walking in Washington D.C. I saw all these cool flowers on the wall and they were all made of jewels. I wanted to get a picture of them or find them on the internet but I couldn't. I hope that what I have explained to you lets you see art in a different way and you can enjoy it better.
Give art a chance, pick up a pencil and paper and see what comes to mind or on your paper, you might be surprised.
Special thanks!
